Pilgrim Hill exists to share the love of Jesus through hospitality and art.

We operate a hostel for travellers, an arts festival, and  residencies for artists in the beautiful Huon Valley of far south Tasmania, Australia.

Give to the work of Pilgrim Hill

Your kind gifts support the work of Pilgrim Hill. Build gifts allow us care for guests and artists by expanding our facilities: we currently seek to build another dorm and a Great Hall. Salary gifts allow us to pay Peirce and Christina Baehr, who live on site and do the work of Pilgrim Hill. You'll find more details in the "About Your Support" section below. Your gifts of any amount to either project are greatly appreciated.

Australian and International donations are processed in Australian dollars. US donations are processed in US dollars by Campus Missions International a ministry of Maranatha Christian Church and are US tax deductible. If you need a refund for any reason, please let us know within 30 days.

About the Hostel

Pilgrim Hill is an off-grid, family-run, Christian hostel in the hills of Tasmania’s Huon Valley, surrounded by a patchwork of heritage orchards and native bushland. We currently host up to 15 guests a night on our 26-acre hilltop property full of amazing Australian wildlife.

Three times a week, we share a meal and a Bible discussion with travelers from all over the world. In our six years of operation, we’ve hosted nearly 350 guests from 38 countries, most of them University graduates from Europe and Asia who stay for months on working-holiday visas doing orchard work in exchange for an extra year in Australia.

We offer our guests a home — a place to lay down their packs and experience the love of our awesome God. From our five-star reviews, our travellers deeply connect to the care they receive here. Our prayer is that every guest who comes through Pilgrim Hill would come to know Jesus and take the taste of His goodness and truth with them on their travels wherever God leads.

In the Press

Fruit Pickers and Truth Seekers: CPX (Centre for Public Christianity) covered our journey, showcasing how we provide a home and share the love of Jesus with travellers from around the world.

About the Arts

Pilgrim Artists is our initiative for Christians in the arts, connecting and encouraging creatives in the use of our gifts. Since 2016, we have run a yearly festival of visual art, music, and words in the Huon Valley. Starting in 2025, we will be adding artists residencies at Pilgrim Hill, where skilled artists, writers, or musicians will join in the life of the hostel and have the use of our newly built workshop to explore the intersection of art and faith.

In the Press

Why Should Art Matter to People? It Matters to God: The Gospel Coalition explored our Pilgrim Artists initiative, emphasising the importance of art in faith and how creativity plays a crucial role in expressing and exploring belief.

About Your Support

Pilgrim Hill Association Inc is an ACNC registered non-profit association, run by a seven member committee elected from our membership at our yearly AGM (held Thu, 19 Sep in 2024). Among other reasons, Peirce and Christina Baehr constituted Pilgrim Hill in 2011 as an association to have wisdom, accountability and oversight in handling donations from supporters like you.

Your gifts allow us to do our work of sharing the love of Jesus through hospitality and art. We are currently in the second phase of our building project, which includes:

  • The Artist's Workshop — Completed Sep 2024! — a dedicated space to host our artist's residency,
  • Dorm 2 — with upgraded facilities to accommodate twice as many guests, and
  • The Great Hall — for hostel communal space, a permanent home for our arts festival, and much more.

Your kind donations will enable us to complete these buildings and care for more guests and artists, spreading the life-changing good news of Jesus.

You are welcome to make your donation by card above, or using these details for alternative giving.
